Welcome to Alpine Coffee Shop

FINAL DATE FOR ONLINE ORDERS WILL BE WEDNESDAY 31ST DECEMBER

In future, loose leaf tea can be ordered directly from cupoftea.co.uk, or picked up in their new tea house opening on the Betws-y-Coed train station platform.

While the official opening of the (CUP OF TEA) Tea House will be towards end of February, they would be delighted to welcome Alpine customers to purchase tea while they are busy setting up their new venture. Do pop down to say hello to them!

Dear Valued Customers,

After many wonderful decades at the heart of Betws-y-Coed, we would like to share an important and bittersweet announcement: the Alpine Coffee Shop will be retiring, with our final day of operation on 5th January 2026.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our customers over the years- our loyal regulars, new friends, and visitors from far and wide. Thank you for your continued support, your kindness, and your generous donations to conservation. You have helped make the Alpine Coffee Shop not only a café, but a community.

Since opening our doors in 1976, as the Alpine Coffee Shop, our mission has always been rooted in sustainability and compassion. We have proudly served locally sourced, palm-oil-free produce, supporting local suppliers and doing our small part to reduce the demand for palm oil and the associated deforestation in Africa and Asia. Alongside this, our commitment to wildlife conservation has remained at the heart of everything we do. With your help, we have fundraised tirelessly for Ape Action Africa and Orangutan Appeal UK. This includes one of our proudest achievements- Team Alpine's climb up Kilimanjaro in 2016, raising £5,337 for both charities.

While the café will be closing, some of the things you've come to love will continue. Our breakfasts, passion for conservation, and fundraising efforts will live on through the Hangin' Pizzeria. And for tea lovers, our friends at Cup of Tea will soon be opening their tasting tearoom right here in Betws-y-Coed, downstairs on the station platform.

Finally, we would like to express our deepest thanks to the incredible Alpine Coffee Shop team. Each member of staff has played an essential part in making the café what it is today, offering exceptional service and helping us raise vital funds for conservation.

We would like to mention our appreciation to the three hardworking women that laid the foundation of the Alpine when we had first opened as a snack bar- Edna Williams, Sue Jones the late Alice Richard.

A special thank you must go to Sue, who has continued to work with us until this day, and has kept the kitchen running like a well-oiled machine. We truly could not have done this without her. Thank you Sue.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being part of our story. It has been a privilege and joy to meet and serve you.

With warmest wishes,

The Alpine Coffee Shop Team
